Main Temple - First Level. Angkor Wat, originally known as Vrah Vishnulok - the sacred abode of Lord Vishnu - is the largest Hindu temple in the world. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it was built in the 12th century by the most illustrious Hindu Khmer King Sūryāvarman II during his reign between 1113 AD and 1156 A.D. Situated in Siem Reap Province of Cambodia, it is also the largest religious building in the world. Angkor Wat Temple is a masterpiece of Khmer civilization and a unique combination of architectural harmony, perfection, symmetry, iconography and spiritual knowledge of the ancient Khmers.
